Plummers

Plummers is an 8 acre parcel located at 1150 Springdale Road. Acquired by the city in 1957 as a condition of the purchase of land for Givens Park. It has historically been an African-American cemetery and still receives an average of 3 interments per year.

On June 13th, 2009, the George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center, in association with Save Austin’s Cemeteries, kicked off a weeklong event in observance of Juneteenth. These organizations need the East Side Community’s help in gathering information regarding African-American history in Austin, starting with Plummers Cemetery at 1150 Springdale Road.
