Call for Entries for 2010 Photograph Contest

Save Austin’s Cemeteries is hosting our first cemetery photography contest. The purpose of the contest is to increase public awareness and appreciation of the artistic and cultural value of Austin’s city cemeteries. The top twelve (12) entries will be compiled as the 2011 SAC calendar. The calendar will be published via Cafepress.com and available for sale with proceeds benefiting SAC projects.

Winning entries will receive a one-year membership to Save Austin’s Cemeteries. The entry receiving the most overall votes will also receive a 2011 SAC calendar and have the winning entry on the cover of the calendar.

Entries are due by August 15, 2010

SAC invites the public to submit photographs meeting the criteria below:

  • The subject of the photo must be one or more of the Austin city cemeteries: Austin Memorial Park, Evergreen, Oakwood, Oakwood Annex, and Plummers.
  • Photographs may be in any photographic medium – color, black-and-white, and/or photo-montage.
  • Photographs must be submitted electronically to president@sachome.org or via www.yousendit.com (for large files or multiple files) in digital format. Save digital files in jpeg format at least 150 dpi (300 preferred) in RGB (even if black-and-white photo). Title each photograph with your name (Last Name, First Name), title of photograph, city cemetery name(s), and shooting date.
  • An entry form must be filled out for each photograph.
  • A maximum of five (5) entries per photographer allowed.
  • Keep in mind that horizontal shots will look better in the calendar due to page layout.

Your submission(s) will be posted on the SAC website where they will be judged online by the public. Entries will be posted on the SAC website in mid-August 2010 and voting will end by September 10, 2010.

SAC is not responsible for lost, delayed, damaged, misdirected, or illegible submissions. By entering the contest, entrants grant SAC the right to publish/use submitted photographs for advertising and/or promotion of SAC, and for commercial products, including, but not limited to, SAC publications. Any photograph produced will include a photographer credit. Entries not conforming to the above criteria will not be considered.
